5 Things To Buy From Mecca Maxima

Our five product picks that will be available at Mecca Maxima. Image writer’s own.

Start spreading the word beauty lovers; very soon Mecca Maxima will be making its way to our shores. It’s set to open on November 17th in Christchurch’s ANZ Centre but don’t fret out-of-towners as all the brands in store will also be accessible to us online. For those who aren’t in the know, Mecca Maxima is the closest thing we will have to a Sephora, aka the ultimate beauty shopping heaven. We will have access to brands previously a bit trickier to get hold of; Urban Decay, Soap and Glory, Too Faced to name but a few. We’re excited and you should be too. In honour of the occasion, we’ve compiled five products you have to pick up when the store opens in Christchurch. Some are online now but the newer brands will be available closer to the time. Here’s our must-haves from Mecca Maxima that you need to treat yourself to come opening day:

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit: Surreal Light
If you are feeling indulgent or perhaps want to really treat one of your girlfriends, this is the palette. Encased by a matte, marbled shell is five powders. Inside you have one finishing powder, two blushers, a bronzer and a highlighter. This palette is definitely more for the fairer complexions and while its price tag may seem extravagant, it’s worth the investment. There’s something truly special about Hourglass’s powders and they really do last for ages so you’re getting your money’s worth.

Too Faced Hangover Primer
Primer is one of those steps we’d be lost without, particularly with summer on its way. Too Faced’s is one of the best in our opinion and helps to prep the skin for any base you apply over the top. Infused with coconut water, electrolytes and probiotics it helps to smooth the skin and add a touch of dewiness too. Unlike silicone-based primers, this feels much more nourishing but not too heavy. Combination-oily skin types should get along with this just as well. We’re keeping our fingers crossed the travel-sized version comes our way too. Beauty minis are always handy.

Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush range
British brand Soap and Glory is known for their delicious, delectable range of bath and body products. Our pick is the Sugar Crush range. For some, this may just be a touch too sweet but we love it for perking us up in the mornings, prior to a cup of coffee of course. We highly rate the scrub and body wash.

Josie Maran Coconut Water Cheek Gelee
This natural beauty brand has been a popular one among the beauty blogging set. In the States it has a presence in Sephora but Mecca introduced it to their stores a couple of years back. These coconut water blushers are an interesting product, having an almost firmer, creamy texture. They’re best applied with fingers or a duo fibre brush and come in a range of soft, flattering shades. We love Poppy Paradise for the summer.

Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel
Greek brand Korres is another of our favourites. Their lip butters are worth checking out as well but lately we have loved this shower gel. It’s tropical, and fruity but not in an overpowering way.  The matching body butter tempts us too. This is the perfect summer scent.
