Accessory Trends for Summer 2010
Some say that clothes maketh the man. We say, accessories make the outfit! Accessories can definitely take your outfit to the next level, adding that little something ‘extra’ to your look. We’ve picked our favourite accessory trends for summer 2010 to give you some inspiration.
Think big knuckle-dusters and cuffs – statement jewellery has been big for a while, and will continue to be hot for summer. Two-finger rings are also a hot trend. Wear big chunky rings on all your fingers, or layer rings on one finger, and make your jewellery really stand out. We especially love layering Pandora rings and bracelets for their fab layering effect – hot!

Socks with Heels
If you’ve missed this trend, you’ve probably been hiding under a rock. Socks worn with heels is a massive look for summer. Lots of designers have been featuring this trend in the lookbooks, and on the runway. Go with cute frilly ankle socks with your wedge heels, or if you’re brave, rock the knee socks!
Shoes: The Wedge
If there’s one shoe you wear this summer, let it be the wedge. From cute black wedges to chunky wooden wedges, this is the must-have style for summer. And of course, pair them with socks!

I’m sure we can thank Sex and the City 2 for this trend – it looks like the turban is going to be a hot headpiece in the coming months! Celebs such as Selma Hayek have been seen rocking this look at New York fashion week. We’re not quite convinced, but we like what Kate Sylvester has done with the styling of the turban in her Sylvester summer lookbook. And we can imagine it would look great with a bohemian-style maxi and oversized sunglasses at the hotel pool, no?
One look at the international runways will tell you that hair accessories are big for spring and summer. Large bows are particularly popular, and the headband will continue to be a hot trend. Plain headbands add a chic element to your bun or chignon, while funky bow headbands are super cute and fun. Check out these cute headbands from Mita – the perfect accessory to update your summer look.
With everything from glam 50’s cat’s eye to funky prints, there’s something for everyone in this summer’s sunglasses trends. Check them out here.
