The Best in Online Shopping

online-shopping

The internet has revolutionised the way we shop.  These days shopping doesn’t have to involve battling the crowds at the mall or on the high st on weekends, and no longer do we have to lust after must-have items from overseas, lamenting that they are not available in little old NZ. We can simply jump on the computer and new purchases are just a mouse click away!

Online shopping is easy, and fun.  Who doesn’t love trawling shopping sites looking at beautiful clothes, and adding them to your ‘shopping cart’? Plus, it’s the perfect way to spend that Friday afternoon at work when you’re feeling a little less than motivated (not that we would ever do that in the FashioNZ office!)  We’ve compiled our list of our favourite online shopping sites – check them out next time you feel that money burning a hole in your pocket!

Fashion Artiste www.fashionartiste.com
This exciting new online boutique features top Australian and New Zealand designers such as Stolen Girlfriends Club, Cybele, Antipodium, Lonely Hearts, Therese Rawstrom and Kate Sylvester.  Offering much more than just a chance to browse and buy pieces from hot designers, Fashion Artiste offers a full shopping experience.  The site features ‘Designer of the Month’ profiles, which gives you the opportunity to find out more about designers and their collections, and a shopping by ‘trend’ section, which is fab if you have been coveting a particular look but don’t know where  to find pieces to emulate it.  We also love the Folio section, featuring the latest photo-shoots which showcase how to wear the newest trends.  Plus, sign up to the Fashion Artiste mailing list and receive the latest news first, plus access to member only giveaways – we love!

Fashion Trader  www.fashiontrader.co.nz
We love Fashion Trader for its double approach to online shopping – not only can you buy new clothing at one of their online boutiques, but you can also sell and trade items you no longer want with other fashionistas.  Plus, there are no registration or listing fees, so if you don’t sell your item you won’t be charged.

Inzivil.com
An online shopping destination featuring the best of up-and-coming New Zealand and Australian designers, including  Ellery, T-V, Arnsdorf, d_luxe, and Kathryn Wilson. We also love their vintage section, which stocks a great range of one-offs at affordable prices. Invizil also offers free shipping within New Zealand and free international shipping on orders over $150.

Zipmeup.com www.zipmeup.co.nz
The brainchild of Kezia Smart,  this new online store’s point of difference is its focus on carefully selection of pieces not easily obtainable, and its element of exclusivity – Zip Me Up is the exclusive online stockist of Australian designers Alex Perry, Rachel Gilbert and Nicola Finetti in NZ.  The site also stocks favourites like Stolen Girlfriend’s Club and cult Aussie label Ksubi.  We love how easy to navigate the site is, and the fact that it offers free shipping around NZ.

Jems www.jems.co.nz
Perceptions of ‘vintage’ have certainly changed.  In the last few years, vintage has gone online and ideas of smelly, old-fashioned clothing at dusty old op shops have gone thanks to some fantastic new online vintage clothing stores.  Jems sells high quality designer vintage fashion sourced from NZ and Europe.  All items are carefully selected for beautiful style and excellent condition, and well priced – a fantastic way to shop vintage.

Idiom Boutique www.idiomboutique.co.nz
Tauranga’s uber-hip Idiom Boutique stocks an eclectic mix of top brands such as Stolen Girlfriend’s Club, Salasai, Infinite Definite, Ruby and Hailwood with eclectic range of vintage clothing, accessories and homeware that embrace’s the elegance and quirkiness of bygone eras of the 50’s through to the 80’s.  And since we’re located in Auckland, we love the fact that we can now shop the unique stock in this cool store online.  The site mimics the ambience of the store itself and allows you to browse the collections with ease, and even has a size chart for those unsure moments.
