Applying Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Colour Collection

My hair and makeup routine is a ritualistic part of my morning. It’s my ‘me time’. I get to sit at my beautiful 1960s vanity and spend time pampering myself, taking the time to do my hair and makeup because I’m worth the time. It’s all for me, and the time and effort I put into my appearance is a positive, empowering and confidence building start to my day.

I’ve been trying out three different products from the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Collection and I’m quite happy with the results of each product.

Bold Defining 24HR Liquid Eye Liner in Dark Valentine $48
I love the super fine tip and the thin, liquid texture of this liner. It’s a nice rich black pigment which when applied, glides on smoothly and dries quickly. I really like this liner, (I’ve tried quite a few brands) and the only critique I have found so far is that it doesn’t come off as easily as I would like too with a normal facial cleanser. It almost needs to be gently rubbed otherwise it won’t budge. This downside can be taken in a positive way though; it stays on perfectly when I’m at the gym or if I get caught in the rain. I recommend gently removing your eyeliner with some makeup remover and a cotton pad. Always give it a good shake before application to mix up the product for an even texture.

Bold Liquid Lipstick in Luscious Raspberry $39
I was really intrigued to try this lipstick. I’m used to a very matte, plain twist up lipstick so this contraption really got me at first. You press a little button on the side to release the colour into the foam tip. It’s easy to apply, and the sponge tip is a nice shape for application (especially around the Cupid’s bow which is easy to mess up). I love wearing lipstick, if I could only wear one type of makeup for the rest of my life it would be lipstick. I usually go for a rich red, but I do love dabbling in pinks, oranges and purples. This raspberry pink lipstick with a slight sheen is totally not what I would usually pick, but I’ve been really enjoying the rich colour and moisturising feel on my lips. The only downside to this product is that my lips are still quite pink after I’ve removed my makeup, it’s highly pigmented colour. I would be really interested in trying a red in the same makeup line. This lipstick also smells really nice, bonus!

Bold Illuminating Liquid Highlighter in Golden Kiss $49
The illuminating highlighter was probably my favourite product out of these three. I have never really done my research or used makeup highlighters before. It all seemed a little confusing and I was never sure what the point was or where to apply it correctly. I started watching a few YouTube videos and suddenly the power of a good highlighter become pretty evident. I love the look of this product on my skin and it really helps to enhance the top of my cheekbones and just under my brows. I also stick a tiny amount of product along the bridge of my nose, and my cupid’s bow. I apply it gently with a damp sponge to these areas making sure it’s blended really well. A tiny amount goes a long way so I know I won’t have to replace it any time soon. I have quite pale skin to begin with so it’s nice to illuminate that and give me what I call ‘full moon skin’.

On the whole, I have really been enjoying these products. I would love to check out a few more of the Elizabeth Arden red lipsticks, you can never have too many lipsticks. I think I’ll keep buying the eyeliner, it’s a little pricier than what I prefer to spend – but the application is perfect.
