How to: glow baby glow
Want naturally glowing skin? We tell you all you need to know here...

Getting a glowing and luminescent complexion comes from having a fabulous everyday skincare routine - plus a little consideration when it comes to food and your general lifestyle.
The Beauty Bible guide to getting that I-do-yoga-twice-a-day glow:
- Always remove your makeup at night, I don’t care how many gin and tonics have entered your system or how tired you are - this is non-negotiable! Your skin needs to breathe and replenish itself while you sleep and it can’t do that when covered in the three layers of foundation you applied previously.
- Get a professional skincare consultation. This is an exercise that will only need to be repeated if your skin condition changes and it really will alter the way you look at your skin and skincare routine. Experts are called experts for a reason - i.e. they know WAY more than you do and a few small changes could be the difference between dull, regular skin and glowing, supermodel radience.
- Use a gentle cleanser every morning – many people assume this is unnecessary but it stimulates the skin and removes any impurities - both of which are vital steps towards yummy, glowy skin.
- Exfoliate at least once a week to get rid of dry skin and clean out your pores.
- Natural oils like rosehip, almond, or rice bran oils are fantastic glow creators. Massaging them in to your face 2 - 3 times a week will make a dramatic difference to your skins appearance.
- Exercise: cardio gets your blood pumping which in turn, helps you to get your glow on. There is no need to run weekly marathons but even a regular half-an-hour jaunt around your neighbourhood at a decent pace will work wonders.
- Also on the topic of exercise, all the women in the Beauty Bible office agree that there is nothing like a good roll in the hay to make your skin glow.
(Random tip: if you have a real problem with prolonged redness of the face after exercise, a mild anti-histamine tablet can help)
- Drink 6 – 8 glasses of water a day. I know, you hear this all the time - but do you do it? It makes such a difference to the texture of your skin AND hydrated skin plums out wrikles so they are less obvious.
- Do not pick at or squeeze spots as this just spreads the germs and can lead to scarring.
- Get plenty of sleep as this is the time when the skin rejuvinates and no skincare product can emulate the effects of a great nights sleep on the skin.
- Work on having a healthy diet - as they say, you are what you eat. Try incorporating more Omega 3 fatty acids - check out the Beauty Bible list of skincare superfoods here
- Cut down on salt as it can leave your face looking bloated.
- Use a hydrating night cream to restore any moisture your skin may have lost during the day.
- Apply sunscreen every morning even in winter as the sun’s harmful rays are hugely damming to your skin.
- The alcohol issue:
FYI: did you know that supermodel Miranda Kerr does not drink a drop of alcohol, EVER? No wonder she is the most beautiful woman in the world!
This woman does not drink alcohol - perhaps she's on to something
- Yes, in a perfect world we would all cut alcohol out of our diets completly - but I am not about to tell you to do somthing I wouldn't do myself, so lets talk about a change in tactics instead. Perhaps you could aim to be alcohol free Sunday - Thursday, or only indulge every second weekend.
- The truth of the matter is that alcohol does play havoc with our skin - especially the hydration levels so glowing skin is not going to be a reality for you if you are boozing and binging frequently.
- If you do drink, try to follow the water-wine-water-wine-water-wine mantra and know when to stop.
- And if you slip up and wake up with a splitting headache and sallow, dull, dry skin then grab a 2 litre bottle of water to rehydrate yourself, massage in a nourishing oil, and do a hydrating face masque if you have one on hand.
