CAROLINE SILLS - Winter 2011

Caroline Sills Winter 2011 collection integrates high end original yarns and hand selected quality fabrics in styles which will enhance any winter wardrobe.

Knitwear this season is textural both in knit structure and yarn. Soft Mohair is show cased in a subtle quilt jacket in winter white and a delicate spider knit sweater in loud pink. The knotted texture of Peluce yarn creates an organic statement in kelp green, dappled greymarle and black – styled in weekend longline cable cardigans and swing back wraps.

Fine boucle brings back nostalgia for some, in a classic longline polo with extended side splits, or capped sleeved tunic dresses with angled front pouch pockets. Rich colours of moss bronze, cadmium red and ink enhance the textural look of the yarn and bring exciting life to faithful shapes.

A panelled cashwool knit coat in 2 tone muted colours, makes for elegant daywear over soft washed cargos and an oversized fine wool placket grandpa.

Key looks this season are military shirt dresses and merino coats, cargos rolled at the cuff in rich army green and earthy browns and greys.

Essential layering pieces have been designed around reversible patterned fabrics - versatile pieces are cleverly designed so that a delicate grey floral print singlet is reversible and can create a new look with the leopard print reverse.

Once again Caroline Sills successfully combines diverse silhouettes in luxe knitwear and beautiful fabrics to a discerning female audience.

Calliope Winter 2011

Calliope Winter 2011 offers a ready to wear punkish fantasy, brought to life with quirky original fashion which pairs different yarns with signature prints. While the minimalist tendency is far from over, Calliope still has plenty of options for those that are looking for more!

The way to wear colour this winter is head to toe. Pumpkin and Persian Grey work back with Tabasco tartans or animal prints made up of a fusion of colours and deep Grape and Smoulder Grey add sophistication.

Knitwear styling for winter is funky and all about structure and texture. Double breasted fisher rib mohair jackets; drape front cardigans with leather details. Knitted coats with plenty of zips and shawl collar jackets with a twist, for your more classic connoisseur of fashion.

Styles are designed to flatter sizes 16 -24 and feature interesting details such as oversized snap domes and box pleats to compliment this seasons pared-down aesthetic shapes.

Richard Moore Winter 2011

The Winter 2011 collection features 25 styles, featuring 13 pieces of Moore's world class knitwear, complimented by a beautiful range of 12
directional wovens.

Winter "11 sees the continuation, but divergence, of the military shades - khaki becomes richer and deeper, and military ink shades are important. The perfect complement to these is neutral shades of ecru & shale - and of course black & winter white. The season's key bright colours are neon fuchsia, and electric azure blue.

Moore's signature knitwear always features beautiful fine merino, but this year it is complemented with super fine & soft merino/viscose. Contrasting this strongly is two aggressively textures chunky knit yarns, one a bound slub knit, and the other the all important super chunky bouclé look.

Simple knitwear lines prevail, with features including hand applied Fair Isle embroidery, suedette & leatherette trims, and zip details. Textured knits are very important in the chunky look knitwear, with super chunky waffle knit and hi plush look bouclé. Jackets and big cardigans are a key feature of the knitwear for Winter '11.

The feature of the woven's offering is Jackets as well. Military styled in 4 different cuts. An anorak with overlay leatherette storm flaps, a multi paneled coated denim jacket, a simple lined tailored cropped redingote jacket with storm flaps that become lapels, and a masculine shirt shaped hemline. The military reference continues in the trousers which have cargo features in both a draped loose cut, and also in a version of a jegging.

Japanese inspired chiffon fan pleats still feature in exquisite floor length & knee length dresses in plain season's colours, and a military double breasted wing lapel shirt dress comes in both suedette & printed viscose georgette. Draped front panel singlets and singlet dresses complement the entire range, and are offered in colours and
fabrications to suit all tastes.

A beautiful, directional modern range, with something for everyone ……

Kathryn Wilson Fall/Winter 2011

The Fall/Winter 2011 collection from Kathryn Wilson was launched magnificently to over 1,000 guests at New Zealand’s premier fashion event in a show that combined glamorous production, international models, luxe jewellery, the best hair and make-up stylists in the country and took 6 months to produce.

The winter collection was inspired by 90’s glam combined with references to outdoor footwear. A strange combination for sure, but one that came naturally for Kathryn after she completed a hike on Queenstown’s Milford Track in early 2010.

Combining these themes on the catwalk was no easy feat - the show played heavily on the 90’s references, with a slick Robert Palmer aesthetic for all models who wore the most slender black bodysuits and ponytails high on their heads. Lipstick was blood red and the legs went on forever!

The sophisticated colour palette is based around Khaki Green, Mustard, Fuschia, Rust Navy and Chocolate. Signature prints show a leopard-like reference, but Kathryn has twisted the sometimes overused pattern into less traditional formats of repetition, mimicking scattered autumnal leaves.

As with all of Kathryn’s strong and stunning winter collections, the styles are many and varied. Women are spoilt for choice, with cute street-savvy suede brogues in 4 colours, an array of comfortable and high fashion ankle boots, loafers stacked on easy-to-wear heels, a beautiful line-up of everyday heels and of course a delectable selection of high-heels built for the quintessential party girl.

One of the most exciting developments for the F/W 2011 season is Kathryn’s development of a diffusion collection, entitled ‘Miss Wilson’. This slightly lower price-point collection will sit underneath the umbrella of Kathryn Wilson, re-issuing popular styles in new colours and developing easy-to-wear styles for high-end, multiple-door fashion stores. This will enable the Kathryn Wilson brand to remain elite and exclusive within her selected boutiques. More on this to come…
