Summer 11/12
Jewel of the Nile
In 1937, Agatha Christie released one of her most famous (and arguably most glamorous) of her detective novels; Death on the Nile.
Set within the confines of an art deco boat and the infamous river as a stately backdrop, Christie combined her extensive knowledge of Egypt (her husband was an archaeologist) with a range of elegant and stylish characters that has become the inspiration behind Sable & Minx summer 2011/12 collection, Jewel of the Nile.
“The story was set in such exotic surroundings, at a very interesting and exciting time in history; it couldn’t help but stir me to create a collection I hope is reminiscent of the grace of the period,” says designer Theresa Brady.

The collection weaves a rich tapestry of breathtaking throwbacks to the era - sophisticated yet simple lightweight garments that hint at mystery, details that offer a surprising twist on contemporary gem tones of topaz, ruby, amber and sugilite contrasting a palette of neutrals, and bamboo cotton and silk, crepes, cotton and model.
Summer dressing need no longer be a mystery, with Sable & Minx’s Jewel of the Nile.
