Editor's Note 8 June 2010
I have been a fan of Sex & the City for many years. I first became a fan of the show in my early teenage years, and according to my mother, I was far too young to be watching that sort of thing, due to its ‘adult’ content. But it wasn’t that about the show that always fascinated me, it was Carrie and her fabulous wardrobe. I loved the outfits she wore, and like many women came to see Carrie as a defining fashion icon of a generation.
So of course, I was so excited when the first Sex & the City movie was released, and the costumes didn’t disappoint -especially that Vivienne Westwood wedding dress. And I have been waiting with much excitement to see the sequel. As I write this I have my tickets but am yet to see it – so let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint! I’m not the only one in the FashioNZ office excited to see the film either, so this week; we have been inspired to compile a list of our favourite ‘fashion films’. These are the films that, through their costuming and style, inspired us to copy the outfits, or those that started a worldwide trend, or just those films that we love as fashion eye candy. Check out our list– this is bound to be a debatable topic so leave a comment and let us know if you agree, or if you have a favourite fashion film you would like to see included.
