From the Editor: 14 February 2012

With the sad news of Whitney Houston's death over the weekend I realised I had forgotten what a diva she was in her younger years.

I was reminded of being a kid and busting my dance moves to “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” in the lounge with my older sister while watching R.T.R countdown. We were ecstatic when an Aunty came to stay who brought with her the new Whitney album – we couldn’t believe our luck.

Unfortunately, the record player was off limits to over enthusiastic children. I’m guessing they were worth a small fortune back then. We were a wily bunch so I am positive we found a way around that technicality, even though there may have been the odd broken needle here and there.

I really hope this amazing talent is remembered for her amazing talent and not her final years of battling addiction – RIP Whitney!
