An exciting line-up for iD Dunedin Fashion Week 2017 has recently been announced with classic brand Swanndri joining local high fashion labels Carlson, NOM*d, Company of Strangers, Maaike, Lela Jacobs and Hailwood for the event on March 18-26, 2017.

This will be the 18th year for the popular event which includes iD’s highly-anticipated runway shows held at Dunedin’s historic Railway Station on Friday March 24 and Saturday March 25 and is supported by the Dunedin City Council. Each show will feature a mix of established and emerging designers with many of Dunedin’s beloved brands taking to the runway including: NOM*d, Carlson, Mild-Red, Company of Strangers, Dada Collection and Charmaine Reveley.

Swanndri will be making their iD Dunedin debut with the label led by designer Quentin Hart. He joined the brand in 2015 following a diverse career in men’s fashion, including working at Tom Ford and his range for winter 2017 will be a new-look for the traditional brand.

Runway favourite Hailwood will be returning to iD with the support of beauty brand bee yu who is the event’s newest partner. Designer Adrian Hailwood will show a beautiful collection of his demi-couture evening creations which won a standing ovation at NZFW in August.

Among the other designers making their debut at iD Dunedin’s railway show include Lapin by local designer Jane Avery, Ovna Ovnich, Motel Bible, Amy Dunn, as well as a collaborative collection from new label, Florence and accessories brand Yu Mei.

“From dark moody layering to feminine florals and colour, what I love about this show is its absolute variety,” says this year’s show selector, stylist Sarah Stuart. “Audiences will get to enjoy the most incredible night of fashion that takes you from cutting edge emerging design to highly commercial pieces that you can go and buy instore the next day. And all set in a truly unique location.”

Work from talented students will also be seen on the runway with the winners from the 2017 iD International Emerging Designer Awards showing their winning designs along with a selection from seven local post-graduates from the new Post Graduate programme in fashion at the Otago Polytechnic School of Design.  An international and Kiwi guest designer are yet to be revealed for the event. International guests for previous years have included L.A. Frock Stars vintage fashion curator Doris Raymond, Paris-based Australian designer Martin Grant, UK celebrity milliner Stephen Jones, Zandra Rhodes, Akira Isogawa, and this year’s UK-based Kiwi designer Emilia Wickstead.

Tickets for the iD Dunedin Fashion Week show and the iD International Emerging Designer Awards are now on sale at Ticketmaster and organisers are urging visitors to book their tickets early before they sell out.
