Zambesi @ The Marr Factory 2013

Golden Dawn hosted yet another spectacular evening as part of the Marr Factory series, and last night Zambesi was the fashion powerhouse on display. Courvoisier cocktails and a goodie bag on arrival were a wonderful start to the evening, especially as my cocktail could only be retrieved upon showing my stamp only visible under UV light!

Golden Dawn was a great venue for this kind of event – a charming bar with delicious cocktails and a warm, inviting atmosphere. With the Courvoisier flowing, it was time to get the show started, and models walked their way down the chalk outlined catwalk.

The Zambesi S/S 14 collection is a sleek collection that plays with textures, silhouettes, and styling – with some pieces worn back to front yet still exuding ‘effortless cool’, rather than ‘accident’. The Zambesi aesthetic has always been effortless cool, dark and edgy, while also being elusive and indefinable. M.A.C. did the make-up, and went for a “manga cartoon meets 90s grunge” with “graphic shapes for a girl who is fearless” – complementing Zambesi’s collection perfectly.

This collection uses a simple palette that maximises on the few tones – black, white, grey, pearl, plaid, and goa prints act cohesively together to form the sophisticated collection. These colours and prints are brought to life with signature Zambesi cuts, modelled by some surprise celebrity guests – ranging from David Farrier to David Dallas!

Famous fashion faces such as Kylie Cooke – stylist extraordinaire – walking as well, alongside Huffer’s Steve Dunstan, and countless other names.

While there were many beautiful models and guest models there, the model of the night had to be Bruno – the gorgeous wee grandson of the Zambesi owners. Toddlers in Zambesi definitely needs to be the next big trend!

The Marr Factory’s Zambesi show was a lively and fun experience, and the crowd loved it! When a show has sparkly socks and Madeleine Sami though, what’s not to love? The Marr Factory series continues tonight with NOM*D, the sold-out Workshop/Helen Cherry on Wednesday, and closes on Thursday with Kate Sylvester.

There’s only a handful of tickets left now, so get a couple and make sure you don’t miss out on what is a truly fun fashion experience!
