Glassons Stand Out

Glassons unveiled its first ever season preview salon presentation, featuring key items for the upcoming season, at Van Lier Rose Nursery in Riverhead yesterday.

A magical experience, from the outset media were excited about the adventure ahead of them. Instructed to meet in Britomart outside The Pavillions, I wandered down to the area and there found a group of the most trendy-looking people Auckland could have found. These, it seemed, were my fellow media and invited guests.

After lots of air-kisses and hugs, the lovely Anna-Lise from Showroom 22 (wearing the most amazing Karen Walker sunglasses ever) beckoned us to follow and board the bus.

The journey over the bridge to the rose plant was great fun, and it felt as if we were back in school on route to a fun excursion wearing out best mufti!

On arriving at the nursery we were lead inside to the most decadent setting. Set amongst the machinery and rose petals, was a table adorned with cupcakes, finger sandwiches and tiny, wee pies. After more mingling (and a couple of the cupcakes) we were ushered into the greenhouse where the roses are grown.

The setting was stunning. At the end of a long concrete catwalk, adorned with rose petals and framed with beautiful white wooden chairs, stood a five-piece rock band. We took our seats and the band began to play. Then the real show began.

The new season looks were fantastic. Personally, I loved the quilted bomber jacket and matching skirt with the shoulder-less cu-out long denim top.

A pastel green jacket and shorts also made me exclaim, “Oh, wow”. Come this winter, the mix of textures and colours will be great if this collection is anything to go by and the new range of bags will surely be a hit with schoolgirls and office girls alike – I have my eye on the cream and navy one pictured below.

After the girls had strutted their stuff, we lingered long enough to snaffle another cupcake and then boarded the bus back to town. Anna-Lise then gave us each a beautiful rose to take home. My light pink one is in a vase next to me right now and has opened up in full bloom – stunning, just like the show!
