Meet the new FashioNZ Hair Guru

FashioNZ has a brand new Hair Guru - renowned hair stylist to the stars, George Love. Get to know him here, and ask him your hair question...

George opened his salon, the Georgie Love Hair Studio on 1 March 2010. Located in the Old Bank Arcade 233-237 Lambton Quay, Wellington, the salon has been designed to offer clients a modern setting with high quality products and services. After a fantastic career, which has taken him to all corners of the globe and after styling many well known actors, musicians, and football stars hair, George has finally decided to reside in New Zealand permanently.

“It makes sense to create my own brand and I’m very excited about the salon, it is a modern chic design and we are offering top line services and products to a savvy clientele” says George.

Georgie Love Hair Studio will be a Goldwell/ KMS salon offering their full range of colour and retail product services. “George has worked for Goldwell  internationally training other hairdressers, so he knows the products well”, says Goldwell NZ Sales Director, Jane Hassall. “Having a calibre of stylist like George in the Goldwell stable strengthens both our brands, we’re looking forward to building a strong relationship with Georgie Love Hair Studio.”

George began his career in 1985 in London at the age of sixteen. After a three year apprenticeship George worked in and around Covent Garden in some of the top salons. And since the area is the heart of the theatre world, he soon began working for theatre companies which led to him being the hairdresser of choice for several actors including Petula Clark, Joanna Lumley along with many others.

As his reputation grew, George worked in the film and television sector, working on many TV commercials and racking up credits on programmes; The Bill, Top of the Pops and Eastenders. His success with his actor clientele enabled him to also attract regular clients from the music industry such as Annie Lennox and Seal.

From film, it was a natural progression for George to work on fashion shows in the early 1990’s where he was equally successful, George worked on the industry’s biggest fashion shows in Paris, Milan and New York.

Before moving to NZ, George became a colour technician and trainer for Tony and Guy in the UK, then with Goldwell, where he was training some of the best hairdressers from London to Glasgow.

After a holiday in New Zealand George has decided to make Wellington his permanent home and has opened Georgie Love Hair Studio in the heart of Wellington city.
