Bridal designer Kelsey Genna elopes to Italy

Bridal designer Kelsey Genna is known for her beautiful, creative gowns that mix modern influences with timeless design, so when it came to her elopement on the Italy’s Amalfi Coast last year she created a suitably special gown. The designer and her now husband, David, didn’t tell a soul of their elopement plans and Kelsey made her own gown in secret leading up to the big day.

“Since we were eloping I wanted something which suited that setting, its not the sort of dress I would have chosen for a traditional styled wedding,” says Kelsey Genna. “I wanted something feminine, colourful with a flower element because those are three things which are really true to my personal style. To me the fabric was a perfect match for Amalfi with the colours and wildflowers and really was where the design developed from.”

Kelsey and David opted for a low-key but romantic day with the designer doing her own hair and makeup, accessorising her bridal look with a stunning pairĀ of Italian earrings by Percossi Papi which she bought in Rome from designer Maria Teresa Percossi. Kelsey hand-picked her flowers from the garden of Sant’ Alfonso where the couple stayed.

Joining them on their wedding adventure was friend and photographer Sarah Burton who captured the events of the day, along with her boyfriend Ryan Fielding who shot a beautiful video of it. Kelsey and David were married by the mayor of Ravello in the lovely town hall gardens which overlooked the amazing azure ocean along the Amalfi coast.

Afterwards they explored the streets of Ravello on foot while eating gelato and interacting with locals in their wedding finery. The day was capped off by a surprise boat ride at sunset which Kelsey organised where the newlyweds drank champagne and wrote postcards home sharing their exciting news before sharing dinner at Marina Grande. Kelsey and David are planning a celebration of their marriage with friends and family on the first anniversary of their wedding on 12th August this year.
