Hit or Miss? Salma Hayek, Turban

It’s a miss!
A few weeks ago, we picked our favourite accessory trends for summer 2010/11, and we did include the turban. 

But Salma, Salma, Salma....what were you thinking?  Wearing a turban with this outfit makes no sense!  The outfit itself is very chic – the sleek, belted skirt and top and thigh high boots look great.  I just can’t understand why she ruined it with the turban!  And the turban itself is definitely little too bulky for my taste – I prefer the thinner, headband style turbans as they are a far more wearable look. 

There is definitely a certain way to wear the turban, and I do think it can look very fashion forward and chic.  If you’re game to give this a go for summer, wear it with a long maxi dress, lots of gold jewellery and sandals. Look to Sarah Jessica Parker in SATC 2 for inspiration.  I also like how Kate Sylvester accessorises her summer collection with a turban – a great example of how to wear the turban right.
