The Department Store Spring/Summer Show at NZFW - Review
The Department Store
Spring/Summer 2010
The Department Store was buzzing on Saturday night with young North Shore socialites, customer VIPS and the usual entourage of NZ Fashion Week.

The show included a few selected pieces from current-in store spring/summer 2010 collections by Karen Walker, Black Box (Ksubi, Stolen Girlfriends Club and Claude Maus), Nike and Topshop. Although none of it was new to the eye, it was nice to see them being displayed on the models with great simple styling and beauty by Steven Marr and Lucy & The Powder Room.

On arrival we were taken by surprise to see all the clothes still out on the racks; they had literally just put up some lights, brought in a bar man and made do around the store. This however gave it a more relaxed feeling. Almost like a late night shopping event, suited as nice way to wrap up the week.
My favourite pieces were the beige chiffon maxi with the subtle front detailing, the white chiffon top tucked into checkered 3/4 length tailor pant, the preppy jackets, the fully decked-out denim look, Karen Walker's beige and black ruffle dress paired with funky fly-eyed glasses and the beautiful silhouette of the traditional a-line skirt. With vouchers in hand after the show, it was an incredibly great enticement!
