MisteR - NZFW 2011

In all honesty I didn’t know what to expect from the MisteR show today.
The invite titled “Not So Grimm” should have been a tell tale sign of what was to come but it wasn’t until I was there that I gained an understanding of the collection.
Based on “The Brothers Grimm” Stories like Rapunzel, Pinocchio and Goldilocks, this show was a collaboration of those childhood stories.
For the gentleman the collection offered clean straightforward denim, which was simple with a contrasting stitch on the back pocket.
The shirts, knits and jackets were full of plaid with contrasting blues with orange and with pieces like the Pied Piper Jacket and Tom Thumb Sweater what’s not to love.

For the women folk or ladies as I prefer to call them there were some beautiful knit dresses, which were colourful and fun and very easily compatible in your day-to-day wardrobe. I loved the injection of teal and stripes.
The blazers were strong, with a collegiate feel in plaid are so easy to work back into your wardrobe.
The little details like felt padded gingerbread men or a heart on the back pocket of jeans added a cute sense of personality that made this show so enjoyable.

A fabric favourite was the “Twinkle”, with a dark base and a small unorganised spot like pattern full of colour, it’s so easy to understand how this fabric can be used for both the ladies and gentleman and worked so well.
MisteR have really made fashion fun, their collection was colourful and quirky, with spots, stripes and plaid its so great to see a label really having fun with what they do, they know what they want and they do it…love it!
