Neverblack - NZFW 2011

As one of New Zealand's newest fashion labels, neverblack was born out of a desire to offer beautiful and wearable garments for men and women that are easy on the eye as well as on the pocket.

Dynamic trio Jeremy Maclaurin, Martin Chapman, and Chelsea Thorpe enter the fashion industry together with refreshing unconventionality; neverblack is rapidly becoming known for distinctive modern vintage styling and use of original fabric, also designed in-house to complete their romantic, eminently wearable look.

Held at the newly stripped and revamped Australis House on Customs St, neverblack’s winter 2012 collection captivated spectators as the design house took their show away from the traditional runway.

There were numerous large photographs placed on the bare brick walls, creating an art gallery-like atmosphere. And at around 10pm, as guests were busy chatting and soaking up the fashionable vibe, five models walked toward the projector screen, donning neverblack’s latest looks for the upcoming season.

They posed as photographers snapped away, then continued walking around the perimeter of the venue, all while the projector was displaying the ‘An Insignificant Being’ collection with a beautiful, dynamically shot video.

Colours for the collection included lots of white, cream, brown, grey, and navy blue. With a rugged nautical-eque theme, the looks were styled with belts and satchels made from thick light cream coloured rope.

The girls donned thin belts, emphasising their waists, while the guys had on smart blazers and warm jackets.
