Barkers is a modern design led men’s fashion brand with 27 retail outlets throughout New Zealand (including an international online shop). The label is positioned in a unique niche between the high streets and international luxury brands offering investment buys that will last from season to season.
For winter 2010, Barkers designer Wade Hawkins looks to the cool climates of northern Europe for inspiration with a tailored silhouette, subtle detailing and layering garments and accessories. The palette is a reflection of the urban landscape, with cool monochromatic tones offset by warm brights of purple and powder blue.
Coats are key, whether it’s ¾ Length Melton Wool, Military, Waxed Denim Biker or a Tailored Dress Jacket. A large knitwear offering in the form of 100% washable merino basics, Fine Gauge V-neck Knit Jumpers and Vests, and Chunky Zip Cardigans are layered back with coats, shirting and scarves for a look of dishevelled sophistication.
Military and utility detailing is rife in the collection and alongside tweed, marle, checks and stripes add texture and interest.
