Beauty looks to try this summer

The weather is heating up and summer is right around the corner, which is exciting for many reasons, but for beauty lovers, it means we can get creative and have a play around with some colourful and bold makeup looks to encapsulate the happiness that summer brings. So, here are our top five favourite summer beauty trends you need to try!

Stained Popsicle Lips
We’re really loving this trend because it’s easy to achieve and is low-maintenance, because who wants to be touching up your lips all day while you’re having fun in the sun? So, imagine you’ve been sucking on a popsicle and it’s stained the centre of your lips, well now, this look is totally a thing! Gals all around the world are creating this super kawaii cute look by blotting lip stain in the centre of your lips then using your finger to smudge and blend the stain out onto the rest of your lips. The stain will stay in place for hours, with minimal touch-ups needed.

My pick is the Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip Tint in Wine Trip 270 and Extra Violet 290 (RRP $24), the cushion tip makes the stain glide on smoothly and helps to blend the product and the formula leaves your lips feeling hydrated and nourished for a perfect kissable pout!

Disco, Disco Metallic Eyes
For a look reminiscent of Studio 54, we are loving metallic eyes for a hot Summer’s night out on the town. The best part about this trend is that the metallic shadows are cream based, so not only do they glide on with ease but the hotter you get the cooler the shadow will look on your lids for an intentional melty look. To tie the whole look together, try dabbing a little of the metallic shadow onto your lips and the apples of your cheeks and you’ll shine bright like a diamond, darling.

My pick is the Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit liquid eyeshadow in Shells & Whistles (RRP $12.99). This rose gold shade glides on with precision and ease and stays put for hours, with multi-dimensional metallic pigment that changes in the light AND the best part about Wet n Wild is that all of their products are animal cruelty-free!

Au Naturale No Makeup, Makeup
This is arguably the biggest makeup trend this year and it’s not hard to see why it is the perfect trend to try this Summer, I mean– who wants cake face on the beach? It’s simple and easy to achieve, all you need is a sheer, dewy foundation for a barely-there base, to let your natural skin, freckles and all, shine through. Finish the look off by dusting bronzer over your lids and cheeks that will melt into your skin on a hot Summer’s day giving you a natural, beach-bronzed look.

My pick is the MAC Face and Body foundation (RRP $62). The great thing about this foundation is that it is so versatile. You can opt for a more sheer look or if you’re wanting a little more coverage you can warm the foundation up in your hands which will give the foundation a grippier texture and a little more coverage.

The 80’s Called Colourpop Eyes
Channel an 80’s vibe this Summer with bright pops of colour on your lids! Blue, yellow, orange, pink, the sky’s the limit with this trend. Just make sure you stick to a more natural look for the rest of your face, with bronzy skin and a natural lip to avoid looking like Cruella De Vil.

My pick is Jeffree Star Cosmetics eyeshadow palette in Thirsty (RRP $79.95). With bold and bright shades in yellow, blue and teal and a range of metallics, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Illuminate Me
Light up the skies and your cheeks with an illuminating look that wears day to night. This look is also super easy and looks great as the sun reflects the pigments on your cheeks. Choose your favourite highlighting blush and give your cheeks a flushed glow, emphasizing your cheekbones and completing any makeup look.

My pick is the Bobbi Brown Opal Glow Highlighting Powder (RRP $110). I am obsessed with this product and use it as part of my daily makeup routine. It has a soft pink hue and beautiful pigments that reflect the light ever so subtly.
