Deadly Ponies latest collection arrives in stores and online today with the Resort ‘19 range called Transparent exploring the many practises of devotion and adoration. The luxurious handbag and accessories collection was revealed at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia back in May to an overwhelmingly positive reception.

Creative director Liam Bowden was fascinating with the ideas of devotion and adoration especially in relation to our obsession with inanimate objects. Many beliefs have different talismans which were the jumping off point from a design point of view and inspired the colour palette, silhouettes, and crafted embellishments of the Transparent collection.

As well as creating bags out of leather, Deadly Ponies also created pieces out of PVC products, with the idea being that each framed a view of something once private. “In the new season silhouettes, PVC features heavily as a means of presenting a second skin over signature pieces, protecting and revering the objects within, creating almost transportable temples of modern day craftsmanship” says Liam Bowden.

The sublime colour palette is also a tribute to colours of worship. “Hues of Ultraviolet and Saffron symbolise our colours of devotion – these contrast against a tonal background of Dove and Stone. This is presented through the use of Italian metallic leathers used to create waist and body-sash accessories, such as the Mr Mini Woolf and the Mini Monkey,” adds Bowden.

Among the covetable new pieces is the utilitarian Monkey Satchel, the soft and relaxed Mr Tulip and the cute and refined Mr Mini Woolf. New shoulder straps in Python and PVC adorn other classic shapes with beautiful soon-to-be-released silk bridles finishing off this stunning Deadly Ponies collection.

Deadly Ponies have long been producing winsome silk scarves and this range sees the iconic Wilde prints in a pen-flourish horse design in charming new season colours. This design was used to create clothing for the brand’s MBFWA presentation and the scarves perfectly complement the new Resort ’19 collection.
