Wrapping up day three of New Zealand Fashion Week was none other than Stolen Girlfriends Club, showcasing ‘Safer than Heaven’ – a beautiful collection packed full of edge and attitude.

Set in a Grey Lynn warehouse, a giant black cube was the focal point of this fashion show. Audiences members were gathered around and seated on scaffolding bleachers surrounding this centre piece. Then one by one, models emerged from slashes cut into the plastic black walls of the cube and made their way around the room, dazzling the crowds with Stolen Girlfriend’s Clubs fiercely edgy new season looks.

The looks in this collection were an astounding juxtaposition of androgynous-chic, 90s styles mixed with futuristic feels. Shimmery and sheer grey-toned singlet dresses opened the show and immediately set the tone for the collection filling the audience with 90s vibes and nostalgia. The grunge theme was nodded to throughout the show with tight-fitting, cropped sheer t-shirts making their way into many of the outfits as well as sports bras, one-shoulder cropped tops and striking graphic t-shirts were also dotted throughout the range.

Making regular appearances in the collection was a selection of eye-catching shimmering metallic silver garments. Attention-grabbing thigh high ruched statement boots, hot pants, wrap skirts, jackets and handbags were just some of the classic garments made from brilliant silver fabrics that gave the collection an alluring futuristic injection.

Not to be overlooked of course, were the leather garments, keeping very much in theme with Stolen Girlfriends Club’s strong focus on their always coveted leather-goods. A standout among their collections of ultra desirable leather jackets was an oversized, jet-black leather jacket with ‘STOLEN’ spelled across the back entirely from silver studs. Another show-stopping look we adored was skin-tight, lace-up leather pants under a black blazer, cinched in by a belt with a large leather bag attached to the side.

The night ended on a high note with the black cube beings stripped away, revealing Dunedin-base band ‘Death and the Maiden,’ whose music filled the space as the audience was treated to a first-look at Stolen Girlfriends Club’s resort collection pieces.

Punchy and full of energy, strong and utterly sexy, Stolen Girlfriends Club’s striking reveal of their latest collection ended the day with liveliness, excitement and a memorable bang.
