FNZ Creators Power List: Dennise Palpal-latoc

Two years into my PhD, my day-to-day became quite repetitive and at times, stressful. I wanted to do something more creative on the side that was different and exciting. I started posting my outfits on TikTok and Instagram for fun and eventually, people and brands started noticing my content.

Creating fashion content is really my hobby that I do on the side. I am studying a PhD in chemistry, focusing on research in drug development for infectious diseases, which is basically my 9-5 job.

My personal style is heavily inspired by vintage and 90’s fashion mixed with modern pieces. Content-wise, I love taking photos that are more authentic and less-curated, making sure that they are a reflection of my personality. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with amazing brands, which has allowed me to be creative with my personal style while integrating the identity of the brand.

As a consumer, I think that we have redefined the way in which we perceive fashion and influence in that we now tend to be attracted to content that feels more relatable. Fashion has become so closely tied to self-expression, which means that the power of social media and the voices of creators is so pivotal to unlocking new means for connection and creativity for self-expression to evolve. Ultimately, my goal as a creator is to inspire others to express themselves through their personal style in authentic ways.
