FNZ Creators Power List: Siposetu Duncan

In continuing my creative pursuits, I hope to see more people that either look like me, or share my passion to step into these spaces.

My name is Siposetu, also know as Sisi. I was born in South Africa and my family and I moved to New Zealand when I was in primary school. I am a creative working as a beauty & fashion freelancer, having always been intrigued by the many ways we can express ourselves through the way we dress & style.

I have dreamed to work for myself as a creative from a tender age and as  time went on, I finally built the courage to take the leap-of-faith and left my 9-5. I have been fortunate enough to pursue this full-time for 3 years, which has allowed me to work with an array of fashion, beauty, lifestyle and tech. brands either as a model, photographer, creative director and Influencer.

Throughout the years, I have successfully worked alongside brands such as Mecca, CeraVe, M.A.C Cosmetics, Sketchers, Puma, Elizabeth Arden, Lancôme, Canon, Saben, Logitech, Veuve Clicquot, Cloudy Bay, Stirling Sports, Stolen Girlfriends Club, BraveFace, The Diamond Shop, Superette, MeToday, Together Journal, Waihetians, Ethique, Muse, Nespresso, Monarc Jewellery and many, many more.

In all of this, my favourite moments were

  1. meeting new people who were like-minded
  2. contributing my knowledge and
  3. my skills to bring ideas to fruition.

These opportunities have fuelled my budding passion and taught me to use beauty and fashion as tools to connect and build others, to showcase my ideas and to present more of who I am to our multicultural industry here in Aotearoa. Having to have recently been selected to represent New Zealand fashion week as one of the ambassadors, this also brought to life a lot what I had envisioned.

My desire is to see platforms (brands/companies) partner with creatives from all backgrounds. There’s a lot of hidden treasures (talent) here in Aotearoa that are still yet to be discovered.
