Whether you’re front row, backstage, or just dressing up for the ‘gram, glowing at Fashion Week is more than skin-deep.
It’s not about crash diets, last-minute facials, or overdoing the caffeine – it’s about a week of little rituals that help you feel as good as you look. From gut-loving greens to barre classes that lift your posture (and your mood), Sarah Lindsay shares her runway-to-real-life prep plan for a radiance that lasts long after the lights go down.
1. Beauty starts in the belly
Forget quick fixes. What truly makes the difference is how you eat in the days leading up, anti-inflammatory foods like leafy greens, raw veggies, and clean proteins. Cut back on salty or processed options that leave you feeling puffy. It’s not about restriction, it’s about nourishment. You want your skin to glow, not react.
2. Sweat smart
Book a sauna two or three times that week. It clears stagnant energy, supports circulation, and calms inflammation. The SALA saunas have the added benefit of commercial grade LED lights! Afterwards, rehydrate, coconut water, electrolytes, and herbal tea on repeat.
3. Hydration facial
Hydrated skin is your best filter. Aim for at least 2.5L of water a day and, if you can, book a HydraFacial about three days before. It gives that juicy, glassy glow with zero downtime. I love skin ritual for this treatment.
4. Skip the caffeine jitters
Especially the day before. If you tend to feel anxious or wired, swap coffee for calming teas , peppermint, tulsi, or chamomile are perfect. You’ll feel more grounded and better rested, with energy that flows instead of spikes.
5. Sleep like it’s sacred
No serum works like sleep. Wind down early with magnesium, and read something soft that settles your mind. If your brain won’t switch off, try a quick journal brain-dump to clear the noise and make space for rest.
6. Two-minute dry brush
Before your morning shower, take two minutes to dry brush. It supports lymphatic drainage, smooths your skin, and gives your whole system a lift. It’s simple, effective, and a little bit magic.
7. Barre for posture + presence
Slot in two or three barre sessions during the week. Not for shrinking, but for strength, elegance, and lifted posture. Think toned arms, open shoulders, and energy that carries.
8. Gua Sha (go gentle)
On the day-of, do a soft gua sha, especially around the jaw, brow, and cheekbones. It eases tension and helps your makeup sit better. Use a nourishing oil (Kaea is my go-to), and if it’s a big moment, consider a buccal massage. Kate at Kumo is queen.
9. Start the day grounded
Instead of rushing, start your morning with a short meditation. Insight Timer has beautiful free ones. Take a few deep breaths, anchor into your intention, and begin the day from a place of calm. That’s where your real glow lives.
10. Glow-down hydration (make it spa)
The day after? Mix filtered water with electrolytes and sliced cucumber, then freeze it into ice moulds. Pop a few cubes into your glass — cooling, rehydrating, and the perfect way to reset.
