The latest collection from moochi has started arriving in stores and online with Palette Three titled Galleria. The range draws from the possibilities of the convergence of art and dressing which makes for an artistically inspired collection that also delivers on wearability. The brand succinctly describe Galleria as ‘designed for the adaptive dresser to be tuned and tailored to them’.
Fittingly, the collection imagery was created at Te Uru Waitākere Art Gallery, photographed by Apela Bell on a mixture of digital and film mediums. The gallery is located in Titirangi, the gateway to the Waitākere rain forest with Te Uru championing a cross-section of perspectives and identities, which is also the spirit that inspired Galleria. The location is alongside historic Lopdell House which provided the perfect juxtaposition of heritage and modernity, the two are linked by external bridges and cascading staircases which illustrates a pathway between seasons. For the brand that translates to staying true to their signature style while always looking ahead, as fashion continues to arc into the future while referencing the past.
The collection itself is an invitation for expression and experimentation through moochi’s favoured layering which offers effortless versatility. There’s a feeling of contrast that carries through from the collection’s inspiration with a mixing of shapes and silhouettes that is of the moment. Minimalist lines are juxtaposed with ruching and fitted pants are paired with billowing tops while maintaining a sense of cohesion.
While classic neutrals of stone, sage green and camel make for a perfect base, joyful pops of colour come from vibrant mango yellow and royal blue. It wouldn’t be a moochi collection without the brand’s beloved prints with houndstooth, plaid, stripes, and wildlife-inspired prints catching the eye in this palette.
Among the hero pieces for the collection is an oversized three-piece suit which includes a waistcoat and is softly tailored for a modern look. Fit and flare skirts and chic trousers are a great match for breezy shirting that can be paired with cosy knits on those cooler days. For a contemporary look, moochi customers can opt for the ruched ellipse top and minimalist askew crop which can elevate any outfit. As always, there’s a selection of elegant dresses available with the shard dress, deflect dress and reversible cache midi dress each making for beautiful choices.
The brand’s popular trenchie makes a welcome return in grey, black and yellow plaid as does the shacket in black and grey check which are easy throw on pieces for suitably chic styling. Complementing the collection is an appealing selection of footwear with boots, loafers, heels and some playful shearling slides offering a sophisticated way to finish off your outfit. It’s easy to see how moochi’s artful way of dressing will gain the brand more fans this season.
