Just because we are now behind closed doors and living in comfy clothes everyday doesn’t mean the daily work grind stops for many of us. With seemingly never ending Zoom calls requiring us to still look our best, our beauty routines need to evolve to find a new way of working. Although we still want to look fresh and polished for our virtual meetings, there are ways to give our skin and hair that much needed break. So, we had a chat with Sephora National Artistry Lead ANZ, Alphie Sadsad to find out his best tips and tricks for how to tweak our working from home beauty routines to ensure we are taking care of our hair and skin while still looking our best.

What can we be doing to look after our hair at home?
In terms of giving your hair a much needed holiday, take a much needed rest from heat tools and styling products that cause strain and dryness. It is time to bring life back into your strands, so I recommend applying Virtue Labs Split Ends Serum which is chock-full of their patented Alpha Keratin 60ku® protein, designed to mend and seal frayed and brittle ends whilst restoring the colour and vibrancy of your hair. Team this up with a SLIP Silk Scrunchie to put your hair back in a cute bun before that video call. I also recommend letting your hair dry naturally, now is the time to detox from your dryer!

What would you recommend for a great at-home skincare routine?
Now we will really be taking “no makeup makeup” to a new level and focus on fresh, healthy skin and bright eyes! Always start with a great cleanser, the Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Water Facial Cleanser gets rid of everything in one go leaving your skin really fresh but well hydrated! I follow this with the Clinique iD Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion & Serum which is a Serum and Moisturiser in one that you can tailor to your skin concern. Next I use the Sephora Collection Brightening Eye Cream that is full of natural hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and plump your delicate eye area.

How can we tweak our makeup routine to fit in with that at-home, work-life balance?
The real tricks to the perfect “no makeup makeup” look is in your brows and lashes. Remember that no video call is that high definition, so use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel to brush up your brows and open up your eye area. Then curl your lashes using the Sephora Collection Eyelash Curler to wake up those eyes. If you are after a little bit of coverage, I recommend dotting the Beauty Blender Bounce Airbrush Liquid Whip Concealer underneath your eyes, around the nose and to cover any blemishes or dark spots. Et voila! You are done. Now you are looking fresh, glowy and also giving your skin a much needed detox!

Sephora products are currently able to be shipped in New Zealand during the lockdown but expect a shipping delay.
