An exciting moment for New Zealand designer Kiri Nathan with this week’s announcement that she will be the first Māori designer to open the prestigious New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) event.

It’s been quite the meteoric rise since her 2018 debut launch at NZFW where she impressed on her first solo outing.

Inspired by Aotearoa New Zealand and Te Ao Māori, the Kiri Nathan brand is built on tradition, culture, unique designs, integrity, and a clear company vision. The label produces bespoke fashion, Pounamu jewellery, and contemporary handwoven Kākahu (garments).

The 2023 NZFW also marks the show’s revival since it was last held in 2019. Alongside fashion icon Kate Sylvester, who has already committed to participating in New Zealand Fashion Week this year, Kathryn Wilson, Campbell Luke, Juliette Hogan, and NOM*d are also confirmed to be showing collections on the runway.

This high-calibre group is a true reflection of the bold vision New Zealand Fashion Week has, to showcase inclusivity, innovation, and creativity on the global fashion event circuit.

Taking place at the Viaduct Events Centre from 29 August to 2 September 2023, NZFW will give fashion enthusiasts, trendsetters, lovers of culture, and the public the opportunity to experience the event alongside industry and designer guests.

Traditionally a trade-only show, the new format will be a more consumer-friendly one, allowing the general public the chance to attend more shows than ever before. Tickets for the event will be on sale from early July.
