November has arrived with a wave of fresh launches and milestone moments across New Zealand fashion – from lingerie designed for real bodies to a Kiwi cashmere house making its mark in Beverly Hills.
Here’s what’s making headlines (and wishlists) this month.
Deadly Ponies: Mr After Mr
For Resort ’25, Deadly Ponies takes a speculative leap into the future. Mr After Mr is inspired by Dougal Dixon’s cult classics Man After Man and After Man: A Zoology of the Future – works that imagine surreal post-human worlds populated by “flunkeys” and “Gigantelopes.”
The collection explores transformation and time through evolved textures and tones: think Ziger Calf Hair (a zebra-tiger hybrid of sorts), structured Black Crocotile, and sun-bleached Kina Croc. Buttery Calf Nappa comes in soft green, beige, and deep blue, while a vibrant Carrot Suede brings the pop. The return of the Rush capsule in raffia signals an easy-breezy summer ahead.
Available now via Deadly Ponies stores and online.
Commonplace x McKinlays: The Boundary Sandal
A Kiwi icon returns. Commonplace and McKinlays have revived a 90s classic – the humble jandal – in a sleek new leather iteration, aptly named the Boundary Sandal. Locally made and reimagined for a new generation, the design balances heritage craftsmanship with a contemporary edge.
Retailing for $189 NZD, the sandal is available now at Commonplace Shop and select retailers including Karen Walker, Pat Menzies, Found, and Chapman.
Elle & Riley Lands in Los Angeles
The New Zealand luxury cashmere label is going global. Elle & Riley has opened its first U.S. boutique in Beverly Hills, bringing its refined, trans-seasonal style to California.
Founded by mother-daughter duo Elle Pugh and Yolande Ellis, the brand has become synonymous with softness and sophistication. The new space mirrors its philosophy: calm, tactile, and timeless.
“Our cashmere is made to move between moments, climates, and moods – just like life in California,” says Elle Pugh.
Now open in Beverly Hills. Shop Elle & Riley online now.
Liam Lingerie: Bras You’re Proud to See the Back Of
Liam’s newest chapter completes its design “triangle” – Ready Made, Patterns, and now, Lingerie. Designer Emily Miller-Sharma created the range after struggling to find a bra that worked with her own low-back designs.
After six months of testing on over 50 women (sizes 4–24), the result is a fit-focused collection that celebrates comfort, diversity, and confidence. Featuring wireless bras in three support levels and knickers in recycled mesh and cotton, Liam Lingerie is made to fit real life.
Available now at RUBY stores and online.
Rick Owens’ L’Apparition Candle at The Shelter
The Shelter welcomes a new collectible: L’Apparition, a candle by Rick Owens that blurs the line between object and art. Housed in a sculptural black glass vessel inspired by brutalist design, the scent layers lotus, myrrh, frankincense, and ambergris for a grounding, meditative effect.
Once burned, the vessel becomes a vase or sculpture – a continuation of Owens’ world of raw refinement.
Available exclusively at The Shelter from November 8th.
Naveya & Sloane: The Gifting Suite Opens
For the festive season, fine jeweller Naveya & Sloane has opened its Gifting Suite in Auckland and Christchurch, offering an edit of ready-to-gift pieces. Think Honey Jane necklaces, Boussole huggies with interchangeable charms, and diamond pendants perfect for spontaneous proposals.
Visitors can enjoy bubbles by Hunter’s Wines and even opt for an Audi Concierge Service – delivering gifts within Auckland for last-minute luxury.
Open from the 14th of November through to the 23rd December.
Moochi Palette Five: Journey
Celebrating 25 years of Moochi, Palette Five – Journey revisits the brand’s beginnings while looking forward.
With a palette that moves from dusty blue and pale camel to brass, blossom pink, and deep red, the collection embraces dualities – feminine yet functional, fluid yet defined. Fabrics like sandwashed lyocell, linen, and cupro bring tactile sophistication, while cocoon shapes, origami pleats, and laddered stitches tell a story of evolution.
Available now in store and online, with new arrivals weekly.
OVNA OVICH Chapter 23: A Moment in Time
OVNA OVICH’s Resort ’25 collection captures fleeting beauty and quiet reflection. A Moment in Time blends the feminine and the utilitarian through fluid silhouettes crafted from plant-based, biodegradable fabrics – all produced within 17 kilometres of the brand’s Waitākere studio.
The palette unfolds in earthy neutrals, gold, and patchworked florals – a poetic tribute to slow, local fashion.
Available now at ovnaovich.com and select stockists.
