Rihanna reveals third FENTY x PUMA drop for 2023 – The Creeper is Back!

They say good things come in threes, and the latest collection release by Rihanna of her FENTY x PUMA collaboration is no exception.

In keeping with the 2000s fashion resurgence, Rihanna has re-released Puma’s iconic Creeper sneaker, adopted by Puma for their first Creepers in 2015, but born out of military footwear details in the 1940s.  Back when Puma first revealed their iconic sneaker, the Creeper made headlines, crowned Shoe of the Year in 2016 and sparking a new wave of popularity for the Puma brand that’s seen it creep back into any discerning fashionista’s wardrobe with eas

The 2023 Creeper – named by Creative Director Rihanna as ‘The Creeper Phatty’ – does what it says on the box.  The over-sized stacked gum sole is the base for an undeniably bold shoe, with a luscious suede leather upper, debossed Fenty logo and gold aglets on the laces.

“The original Creeper changed the game for us,” said Maria Valdes, Chief Product Officer at PUMA. “We knew it was time to bring it back.”

Our model and resident digital whizz Bella wears all three colours of the Creeper Phatty, styled with new season brands from New Zealand and around the world, like Maggie Marilyn, COS, Wynn Hamlyn and Silk & Steel.

“The Lavender Alert and Speed Blue styles are so great to pair with more casual, summer styles” says Bella.  “I opted for a denim look with the Lavender, paired with a crop top that would be easy to wear out to lunch or shopping.  The Speed Blue Phatties are so unmistakable, so why not go all out and wear them with even more colour – I loved pairing them with this iconic Wynn Hamlyn Yin and Yang symbol jumper.  And for the black pair, I tried to style them for a fun office look – you could get away with this in a more relaxed workplace that doesn’t expect black dress shoes every day!”

This new twist on the FENTY x PUMA Creeper is available in three colors for all ages and genders, a full family affair.

“We took our OG Creeper and made it bigger and badder, ” said Rihanna. “When designing the Creeper Phatty we wanted to reinvent the OG Creeper that was loved by so many. It’s a classic silhouette that has been missed, so it’s return had to be bigger.”
