Shoe Blog: Game On

Game On

Call it the excitement building for the Olympics or a hankering for a more fuss-free modern silhouette, but sporty features are in the air. Designers including Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant and Marc Jacobs and even Victoria Beckham have sporty influences in their spring collections.

From luxury sweatshirts, cut out and zip or “scuba” detailing, anoraks, sporty stripes on trousers, neons and crisp whites, to the essential high top wedge trainer talked about in my last shoeblog Pumped Up Kicks.

The line between what you wear when you’re working out and when you’re working is closing!

Below – Sporty looks are trending…

Celebrities are loving this trend, as are designers…

On the street: Rihanna, Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger

On the runway: Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and Victoria Beckham

BIOM LACE by Ecco – this Danish brand is experimenting with technology and we like what we see. Lightweight, leather lined and lush suede accented with pops of neon culminate in a sleek, sporty look.

Orange SPAN laceup and yellow SPIN slip on by Ecco provide a pop of citrus colour and are leather lined for extra luxury

Metallics, especially silver, are trending for spring: Silver SPAN and metallic VIBRATION by Ecco.

EXCESS by Diesel – Diesel have done it again – always providing a fun, fresh casual to wear all-year-round. We’re loving the orange! Also in teal for a more subtle look.

KIND by Diesel – metal accents are hot – this sleek style provides just a touch – in grey/bronze or teal/teal metallic.

SPLISH by Diesel – heading away to warmer climes? This tropical print thong comes in orange, black or white.
