10 great beauty products we loved this August

One of the undoubted joys of being part of the FashioNZ team is the opportunity to see and try new skincare and beauty products. As August rolls to an end, we took some time to ponder our new beauty discoveries – the ones that really impressed and that we’d definitely buy again, as well as products that have earned a regular spot in our beauty kit.

By The Be. La Mer Body Scrub, RRP$50

The combination of citrus and bergamot with the power of pure salt is equal parts uplifting and detoxifying. Plus, the instructions encourage taking time to nourish your skin (and self), which elevates this experience to one of indulgent wellbeing. Hand-blended in Australia, it’s also packaged in a reusable ultraviolet black glass jar for additional ingredient longevity.

Ellis Brooklyn Eau De Parfum, RRP$179

There’s an undeniable pleasure in an evocative aroma that triggers memories or a sense of familiarity. We had an immediate response to the Ellis Brooklyn collection of Eau De Parfum’s – from the warm honey tones of Bee to our current favourite Sun Fruit, which transports us to heady summer days. There’s a dash of something unexpected in this collection, which keeps us coming back for more.

Westman Atelier Vital Pressed Skincare Powder, RRP$128

Supercharge your beauty routine with this ultra-sheer setting powder. The luxuriously presented package is the closest thing we’ve found to a magic wand when it comes to smoothing pores, reducing shine and helping deliver an enviably even tone. Plus it’s packed with potent antioxidants and a Skin Defence Shield Complex made with Vitamin C and probiotics.

Clémence Organic’s Brightening Eye + Skin Serum, RRP$149.98

Caring for the eye area has rocketed to the top of the priority list, as mask-wearing has drastically reduced our ability to interact with our full face. Pep up your eyes with a helping hand from this certified organic skincare offering, designed to help reduce hyperpigmented skin and the appearance of dark circles. Pro tip: we lavish it on our eye area, face, and neck morning and night (NB: This naturopathically formulated serum received Australia’s first ACO COSMOS certification for a cosmeceutical skin brightening serum).

RevitaLash Cosmetics Lash & Brow Masque, RRP$79

We don’t need any convincing when it comes to RevitaLash, as our brows and lashes have been benefiting from the RevitaLash formula for some time now. However, the addition of a lash and brow masque to our beauty routine is something new, and we’re not sure how we ever lived without it! Infusing nutrients into the brows and lashes on this level is a game changer, with the tubing technology literally wrapping each hair in nutrients. If you’ve ever over-style or dried out your lashes and brows, now you can treat them better.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer+ Hydrating Primer, RRP$71

Not all primers are created equal – trust us we’ve tried plenty! However, we reckon our quest for the ultimate primer may just be at an end, thanks to this clever creation from Smashbox. It’s ultra-hydrating and applies like silk for the perfect skin prep layer (as well as protection against environmental aggressors), or can be worn alone for fresh dewy looking skin.

Dr LeWinn’s Ultra R4 Collagen Eye Masks, RRP$11.99

Dry tired eyes are a familiar feeling for those who spend hours in front of a computer screen. So the cooling nourishing delight of these Dr LeWinn’s eyes masks cannot be overstated enough. Packed with a highly potent collagen serum to help reduce signs of dark circles and puffiness, it’s instant bliss. Shaped to treat crow’s feet and upper and lower eyelids, the biodegradable eye masks could be your new best friend.

Linden Leaves Miraculous Facial Oil, RRP$54.99

There’s a reason products like this Miraculous Facial Oil consistently remain at the top of the best-sellers list. This proven performer has been a long-time teammate in our everyday beauty kit. While it has plenty of merit to stand on its own two feet (and is the ultimate fix for chapped lips), our go-to is to add a little of the liquid gold to our fave facial moisturiser (Plus, it’s NATRUE certified organic).

August beauty release

Holistic Hair Scalp Treatment Oil, RRP$31.99

We’ve lavished our hair with love and attention for years, but it turns out we’ve been neglecting our scalp. It wasn’t until we tried the Holistic Hair Oil that we even realised just how starved for attention our scalp was. The once arid (and irritated) dryland is now moisturised and calmed, thanks to ingredients such as calendula, lavender, and sweet almond oil. We apply before bed and leave on overnight (plus there’s nothing quite like a soothing scalp massage as a pre-sleep routine).
