AAFW 23: high-octane moments from Wynn Hamlyn

New-Zealand-based label Wynn Hamlyn continues to provide high-octane buzz across the shore at the Afterpay Australian Fashion Week, unveiling its new Resort ’24 collection with a motor-inspired runway show and after-party (in partnership with Australian Beauty Brand MECCA MAX).

The Wynn Hamlyn label is renowned for fusing classical tailoring with a youthful, experimental spirit.

Following the brand’s debut at AAFW last year, staged in an abandoned New Z tunnel beneath Sydney’s Central Station, Wynn Hamlyn made a triumphant return to AAFW with an Off-Site Show and After-Party staged at the Hyper Carting Carpark Arena in Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter.

The venue was aligned to Wynn’s inspiration for the new RESORT ’24 Collection – the high-energy culture surrounding motorsport.

“I’ve been so intrigued by the rise in popularity of Formula One that has exposed so many people to the thrill of ‘the race’ and the electric sub-culture that surrounds it. Resort ’24 was inspired by all the elements of ‘the race’, including the speed, the kaleidoscopic colour amidst the track and the crowds, the chequered flags, the luxury sponsors, and even the carbon fibre technology incorporated into the wheels of the cars,” says Wynn.

Describing the striking beauty looks, Makeup Director Sean Brady says, “I’ve used the MECCA MAX Zoom Liners and Zoom Shadow Sticks (aptly named) to create a look of momentum. As the show is hosted on a go-karting track, I wanted to build on this and depict an element of speed and movement while also reflecting the brand’s modernity and use of colour that exist within the collection.”
