From “social editor” to the frontlines of Vogue’s future
Chloe Malle’s Vogue story kicked off in 2011, when she joined as Social Editor, focusing on weddings, parties, and all things delightful and “fun, fluffy.” By 2016, she advanced to Contributing Editor, taking on features, special projects, and sittings edits. Fast-forward to 2023, and she became Editor of Vogue.com, steering everything digital.
Her mission? Master every medium: print, digital, audio, video, events – you name it. As she puts it:
“I’ve spent my career at Vogue, working in roles across every platform … Vogue has already shaped who I am, now I’m excited at the prospect of shaping Vogue.”
On September 2, 2025, she officially stepped into her new role – Head of Editorial Content for Vogue U.S., succeeding Anna Wintour who will remain her boss, just down the hall.

A legacy in her DNA – and a career of her own making
Chloe is the daughter of actress Candice Bergen and late French filmmaker Louis Malle, steeped in creative legacy from day one. Her mother even played a Vogue editor in Sex and the City – art imitating life, or vice versa?
Chloe doesn’t shy away from her background. She openly owns her “nepo baby” status:
“There is no question that I have 100 percent benefited from the privilege I grew up in … It has always made me work much harder. It has been a goal … to prove that I’m more than Candice Bergen’s daughter…”
She’s also a proud Brown University alum in comparative literature and writing, with early work at the New York Observer, and contributions to The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Architectural Digest – not to mention Vogue features and books.
The digital dynamo behind Vogue’s bold moves
Chloe’s impact at Vogue.com has been nothing short of impressive:
-
She doubled site traffic and boosted engagement metrics, especially around major moments like the Met Gala.
-
She spearheaded quirky digital innovations – like Dogue, a celeb-dog-centric dog issue, and the Vogue Vintage Guide, blending style and storytelling in fresh ways.
-
She led high-profile interviews – including the (controversial) feature on Lauren Sánchez ahead of her lavish wedding to Jeff Bezos.
Leading Vogue – her way
Anna Wintour, shifting to global strategic roles, frames Chloe as “approachable, original, and future-forward.” Wintour’s own sentiment: “…I knew I had one chance to get it right.”
Chloe, for her part, insists she won’t be the “Anna Lite.” She’s eyeing print issues tied to cultural moments, and wants Vogue’s digital channels to serve “a more direct, smaller, healthier audience.”

The next chapter for Vogue – and Chloe
Anna Wintour remains influential, overseeing global strategy and mega-events like the Met Gala and Vogue World. But the baton has been handed to a new generation – one that mixes heritage with hustle, legacy with levity, and digital flair with editorial finesse.
Chloe seems poised to do more than steward Vogue – she’s reinventing it for today’s cultural rhythm, while leaning into her own style and voice. Vogue’s future looks vibrant, and Chloe Malle is tuning in, mic in hand, ready to lead.
