Courtney Joe is a freelance stylist, writer, and creative consultant working between Auckland and Sydney. With over a decade of experience across creative direction, publishing, and brand storytelling, she has shaped a respected career within Aotearoa’s fashion industry.

Her early roles included time at Karen Walker’s PR showroom and leading agency Showroom 22, followed by her tenure as creative director of Fashion Quarterly.
Courtney is known for her elevated approach to character-building through clothing, crafting costuming and styling that balance ease, practicality, and contemporary cultural sensibility. Her work spans editorial, commercial, and campaign settings, collaborating with photographers such as Derek Henderson, James K Lowe, Holly Sarah Burgess, Apela Bell, Guy Coombes, and Olivia Kirkpatrick. She has styled recognisable faces including Erana James, Fazerdaze, Renee Stewart, Rita Ora, and Ruby Tui.
Her writing and styling have appeared across publications including Broadsheet, Ensemble, Fashion Journal, Fashion Quarterly, Reset, Viva, The Post, The Press, Stuff and Sunday Magazine. She has contributed to the visual direction of brands such as Adidas, Bendon, Bronwyn Footwear, Commercial Bay, Commoners, Mi Piaci, Partridge Jewellers, Saben, Samsonite, Silk & Steel, Standard Issue, Tumi, and more. Recent highlights include costume design for Jolin Lee’s short film Chrysanthemum, the Fashion Quarterly Spring 2025 cover, and co-styling NZFW’s Into the Archives with Dan Ahwa.
