With Laneway just around the corner – and Aotearoa’s famously unpredictable summer weather in play – Connie shares three fool-proof festival outfits that balance comfort, practicality and style. From mud-ready footwear to elevated basics and fashion-forward finishing touches, these are the looks she’d wear herself, rain or shine.

Gumboots & Glam: The Western Springs–Ready Look

“This first outfit would be my go-to if the weather was looking a bit unpredictable (as Aotearoa summer weather always is). I’ve been to one too many festivals where the mud has completely ruined my shoes! Thankfully, these Hunter boots are both chic AND weather appropriate. Something about pairing gumboots with a silk minidress just works too, and I adore the subtle animal print on this Realisation Par one. Pair with a chunky leather belt – like this one from Remain – draped low on the hips for an effortless Kate Moss-Eque fit.”

Style That Moves With You: Comfort-First Festival Fit

“This second outfit is all about comfort. The key to having a great time at a festival is feeling good, and this starts by wearing an outfit you feel both comfortable and extremely cool in. I love a boxy graphic tee moment, and this Gimaguas “Careful im sensitive” one is awesome (and a good reminder for pushy people in the moshpit)! The RUBY Marla shorts are the perfect addition with the matching red stripes and of course, in the name of comfort, you can’t go past the Salomons XT-6s; I mean come on, they were made for tramping…how much more supportive can you get?”

Daring & Day-Ready: The Festival Experiment Look

“This third outfit is inspired by everything I’m loving in fashion at the moment. Starting with Wha silk top by one of my favourite NZ brands, Wixii. I have had my eye on this top for a hot minute and absolutely love that it is reversible. If it were me I would highlight the gorgeous bead details by wearing it back to front. I’d pair the top with the SIR The Label Dylan mini shorts; ive been seeing lots of suit style shorts this summer which I love…perfect for the heat but still feels very elevated. I can’t go past a pair of good brown biker boots and these Free people ones are gorgeous.”
