While studying Fashion Design at AUT, Emma launched one of New Zealand’s earliest fashion blogs, Rag Pony, which kicked off a journey that’s seen her hold positions including Features Director at Fashion Quarterly and Deputy Editor of lifestyle/entertainment at Viva.
Emma’s eclectic, inclusive vibe and sharp wit continue to be felt through the words she creates for her own popular weekly newsletter Crust along with regular mahi for The Spinoff, RNZ and 95bFM. Emma reports on what’s happening in the city, analysing styles, and zooming out for wider analysis and reflection on what’s influencing fashion.
In 2026, Emma says she wants to keep unpicking and understanding how the industry works, how New Zealanders dress, and how we can all move forward – making people excited and invested in local fashion.
